Lignocellulose Degradation by Daedaleopsis confragosa and D. tricolor

چکیده
The properties and capacities of the ligninolytic enzymes of Daedaleopsis spp. are still unknown. This is the first study on the effect of plant residues and period of cultivation on the properties of Mn-oxidizing peroxidases and laccases of D. confragosa and D. tricolor, as well as their ligninolytic potentials. Wheat straw was the optimal carbon source for synthesis of highly active Mn-dependent peroxidases (4126.9 U/L in D. confragosa and 2037.9 U/L in D. tricolor). However, laccases were the predominant enzymes, and the best inducer of their activity (up 16000.0 U/L) was cherry sawdust. Wheat straw was the most susceptible plant residue to the effect of the enzymes, and extent of lignin degradation was 43.3% after 14 days of fermentation with D. tricolor. However, D. confragosa was a more effective lignin degrader, as it converted even 21.3% wheat straw lignin on the 6 day of cultivation. The results of the study clearly showed that delignification extent depends on mushroom species and on the type of plant residue, which is extremely important for potential use in biotechnological processes.

Background and purpose: Mushrooms are natural sources that have antitumoral effects, immunomodulatory and anti-oxidant effects. One of the fungus which remained intact is Daedaleopsis tricolor that belongs to the family of Polyporaceae. There are limited phytochemical investigations on other species of this genus, so, we aimed at performing a phytochemical analysis of this fungus. Materials a...
متن کامل4 Fungal enzymes for lignocellulose degradation
Microbial degradation of lignocellulose has been intensively studied for decades. Interest in lignocellulose as a renewable resource prompted these investigations, although in recent years fungal enzymes have attracted much attention in pulp and paper manufacturing. Irrespective of considerable research effort, fundamental questions remain with regard to mechanisms of lignocellulose degradation...
متن کاملThe degradation of lignocellulose in a chemically and biologically generated sulphidic environment.
Acid mine drainage waters are characterised by a low pH, high concentrations of heavy metals, high levels of sulphate salts and low concentrations of organic material. The biological treatment of these waters has been a subject of increasing focus as an alternative to physico-chemical treatment. The utilisation of lignocellulose as a carbon source has been restricted by the amount of reducing e...

More than 50% of terrestrially-derived organic carbon (terrOC) flux from the continents to the ocean is remineralised in the coastal zone despite its perceived high refractivity. The efficient degradation of terrOC in the marine environment could be fuelled by labile marine-derived material, a phenomenon known as "priming effect", but experimental data to confirm this mechanism are lacking. We ...
